
Papier-Maché
Originally is a French word, that means the crumpled paper. In Persian handicraft is called to cardboard objects made by hands and are covered by Persian paintings and a thin layer of oil varnish(Lac). So in Iran are famous as “Lacquer”.
The ancient lacquer objects are popular in Iran and there are found as Lacquer covers, like the cover of Qur’an, the frame of mirrors, boxes and the old pen holders. The paintings used are Flower & Bird, Illumination, Landscape and the old people portraits.
